Throughout December, Ella walked over 35km through Southport and Birkdale, finishing on Christmas Eve. Ella is diagnosed with moderate cerebral palsy and relies on a walker or a wheelchair for mobility, meaning this was a great physical challenge for her.
Despite this and the unpredictable British weather, she displayed determination, resilience, and a great fighting spirit, exceeding her original £1000 goal, raising a total of over £3000.
Dandelion Days are an equine charity who support children, teenagers and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and wellbeing issues through equine therapy. The charity is fully inclusive and welcomes people of all abilities and backgrounds.
After completing one of their courses, Ella has volunteered there for over 2 years and is deeply passionate about their mission. She said:
“Before joining Dandelion Days, I struggled with confidence and often felt uneasy being away from home. Today, I am proud to say that I am a Dandelion Days volunteer— truly my dream job! I am currently studying animal management, and my hope is that in the future I will be able to help others in the same way that Dandelion Days has helped me.”
Everyone at KGV is incredibly proud of Ella and what she has achieved. Not only is she an exemplary student in her Animal Management studies but her commitment to her charity work is nothing short of inspirational.
