Our staff governors use their knowledge of the College, its staff and students to make valuable contributions to College governance and strategy.
Vickie has been employed at Southport College since 2006, she progressed to Learning Support Manager across both SC and KGV campuses in 2018. She has been instrumental in setting up inclusive groups such as the LGBT group and a Social Communication Skills Development group. She is a member of the College Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity Committees and also an Equality and Diversity Champion.
Vickie has qualifications in IT, Education and Training, Counselling and has specialised her CPD in SEN and Inclusion, including EHCPs, SEN Regulations, LGBT and ASD. She is currently undertaking a Level 5 Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management as an Apprentice at Southport College.
Vickie was appointed to the Corporation as a staff governor in 2017 and is a member of the Governance Committee.
Suzanne has been employed at KGV College for 16 years, she progressed to Head of Art and Design in 2014. She has engineered and introduced a broader curriculum offer in the Arts at KGV College to create a flagship department. Suzanne has qualifications within History of Art, Fashion and textiles and the teaching environment.
She has a varied design portfolio that she has remained committed to throughout her teaching and lecturing career. Suzanne was appointed to the Corporation as a staff governor in 2018 and is a member of the Standards Committee.
Carol has been employed at Southport College for 10 years and she progressed to be Curriculum Leader in Health and Social Care in 2012. Carol is a Registered General Nurse and has an array of qualifications within Health and Social Care. She is both committed and passionate about providing the learners with the underpinning skills, knowledge and behaviours to assist them in their healthcare professions.
After the demise of the Healthcare Cadet programme she has collaborated with the NHS to design and launch the Acorn Cadet programme in 2016. Carol was appointed to the Corporation as a staff governor in 2017 and is a member of the Standards Committee.

At Southport College we have an active board of governors who play an important role in the ongoing development of the College. Governors are from the local and wider community with a range of skills, knowledge and experience to help the College take forward its strategic objectives.
