Staff Governor
John brings over 20 years experience of working within the Group's facilities and estates management team to the Governing Body. John has grown and progressed with the Group, embracing new roles and challenges, and now plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, maintenance and development of the Groups estate. He is committed to ensuring the colleges provide a safe and inclusive campus environment for all students and staff. An ex-student of Southport College, John's decision to join the board was driven by his belief in the Groups mission and values and has witnessed firsthand the benefit the organisation can have on a young person's life. He is a member of the Staff Committee and enjoys playing a role in the organisation of staff social events which contribute to the family feel of being part of the staff community. John has a son in further education and is a strong supporter of Southport as a place to live, study and work.
Staff Governor
I studied Film and Media at university and then went on to teach Film and Media studies at KGV, where I have helped students explore creative storytelling, production techniques and critical analysis of media texts. I am currently the Progress Leader at Southport College. In my current role, I support students' academic development and personal growth. I provide tailored guidance, and collaborate with staff to ensure every learner achieves their full potential in a positive and inclusive environment. I was motivated to apply for staff governor for my own development of skills, as well as wanting to contribute to change when it comes to the Southport Education group. I wanted to gain confidence and learn more about how the college is run.

We value and promote equality and diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and, when a vacancy arises, appointments are made on merit, also taking account of the need to fill any identified skills gaps.
