The perfect ingredients for a healthy College! - 25/05/2010
KGV Healthy Eating

After an exhaustive evaluation process the contract to provide catering to KGV for the next 3 years has been awarded to the current providers Mellors Catering Ltd.

Students at the College are really keen to promote and support healthy eating- the latest scheme (pictured) involves free porridge to students for breakfast during the important examination period.

Students had their own tender panel to question firms up for the contact and they represented the student body extremely effectively.

Mark Timmerman (Managing Director of Mellors) said:

“This is great news, and we look forward to working with KGV well into the future. Please pass on my thanks to all the Governors and Students involved in the presentation panel for their time and consideration in this review process.”

Next year, Mellors will pursue this healthy agenda and intend to have more student involvement, with meetings each term with students to discuss issues of concern and to further examine improvements to facilities. These healthy eating initiatives are all made in collaboration with Pam Dalton, Head of Health & Social Care at KGV.

Principal Hilary Anslow said: 'This partnership between KGV and Mellors has really benefitted students. This breakfast scheme is just one of many initiatives to ensure that students thrive in a healthy environment here at KGV.
