FdSc PUBLIC HEALTH
Type: 2 year Foundation degree in collaboration with Edge Hill University (3 years part-time)
Time: Wed - 1.15pm - 8.00pm
Costs: £1310 (2010 -11) Tuition fee loan and maintenance grant available from Students Loan Co.
Notes: This degree will interest you if you plan to, or are currently working in primary care, youth work, in a Sure Start centre or as a health trainer with any age group.

The degree will develop your study skills if you are returning to education after a gap, your knowledge of human development, your communication skills and the legal, ethical and social issues relating to health education and promotion.

A placement is an essential part of the course for all students. If you are already in employment where health education and promotion are relevant, you will be able to use this experience within the course with the approval of your employer and clients. The degrees have been designed with employers in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

You will need a level 3 or equivalent professional qualification or relevant work experience, plus GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C (or equivalent). If you do not have the specified entry qualifications, your experience and your ability to study at degree level will be considered.
