Whether you’ve got a career in mind, hope to go to university or just want to see what’s out there, the Diploma is the the perfect way to explore your options. It’s a new qualification for 14 to 19 year olds and offers a mix of classroom learning and hands on experience - all designed to prepare you for wherever you want to go in life.

KGV is offering Diplomas in:
Business Administration & Finance and Creative & Media

What is a Diploma?
The Diploma is a new qualification which combines classroom learning with practical hands-on experience. You will still study compulsory subjects like English, Maths and Science as well as getting an insight into what work is like from the inside. The Diploma is a qualification that’s designed to help you make decisions about your future.

What can I learn?
The Diploma gives you the opportunity to learn in new ways and different environments, not just in the classroom. It contains a great mix of essential knowledge and skills, like teamwork, self management and critical thinking, as well as work-relevant practical learning.

What can I expect?
As well as learning in the classroom you will spend time in an environment more like a workplace, such as a workshop. You’ll also do work experience with an employer and could spend time outside KGV, perhaps attending another College in your area.

What’s in it for me?
Students of all backgrounds, interests and abilities will benefit from taking a Diploma. It will help you make choices about your career, whether your next step is college, university or a job.

Where will it take me?
There are lots of options; university, college, an apprenticeship, a job. With the Diploma, you’ll get a qualification that’s really valued by employers,
colleges and universities. So, whatever direction you want to go in the Diploma will help you get there.

Will I do work experience?
With a Diploma you’ll get to learn all about your chosen subject through a range of compulsory and optional courses. You’ll also get the chance to spend at least 10 days working with an employer. This is a great way to develop the skills you’ve learnt in the classroom and experience what work is like from the inside.
