KGV College now offers a range of BTEC Level 2 and BTEC Extended Diploma Courses. BTEC courses provide you with the opportunity to study a course which is assessed by portfolio work rather than examinations - if you find examinations difficult or challenging.
Through the 3 Year Advanced Programme the college offers a number of BTEC Level 2 qualifications which are equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A* to C. BTEC Level 2 Diplomas are offered in the following subjects:
- Business
- Health and Social Care*
- ICT Practitioners
- Media
- Public Services
- Sport
- Travel and Tourism
When studying a BTEC First qualification, you can study a GCSE in Maths, English or Science at the same time and complete a BTEC Level 2 Award in Work skills. To progress from a BTEC Level 2 qualification to a BTEC Extended Diploma a Merit at BTEC Level 2 and a C grade in Maths or English is required.
A range of BTEC Extended Diploma courses are also available for you to choose from once you have achieved the entry requirements of at least 5 C grades at GCSE including Maths or English. Subjects you can study include:
- Business
- Health and Social Care*
- ICT Software Development
- Media
- Music Technology
- Public Services
- Sport
You can choose to study a BTEC Extended Diploma course which is equivalent to 3 A levels A*-E grades. This forms the main part of your programme here but a GCSE Maths, English or Science course can be studied alongside a BTEC Extended Diploma. You can also decide to study a BTEC National Diploma which is equivalent to 2 A-levels A*-E and then study an additional AS subject at the same time (individual AS course entry requirements must be achieved.)
