KGV Refectory

There are plenty of places to eat and drink at college and KGV is well placed with easy access to Southport town centre and a plethora of eateries and shops at Kew. On the college grounds we have a range of places to buy food and drink for every pocket and every different taste! Situated in the West building, the social area and three catering outlets offer a wide range of hot and cold snacks and drinks guaranteed to match every taste and every budget.

Mellors Catering Ltd recently won the tender to provide the college’s catering and they are committed to working with the college to provide a healthy eating environment as part of the Healthy College initiative led by KGV’s Head of Health and Social Care, Pam Dalton. From September 2010 Mellors are keen to involve the students in decision making about the range of food on offer and will undertake regular meetings and focus groups to discuss relevant issues and examine any improvements that could be made to existing facilities.

The college canteen boasts a wide range of different eateries from a hot food counter which offers everything from porridge and toast in the mornings to healthy cooked meals at lunch time to a deli sandwich bar which offers a wide range of different sandwiches and rolls as well as a fantastic range of salads, fruit and healthy snacks. As part of the deli-counter Mellors have recently installed, at the request of the students, a Starbucks machine with every type of hot drink from cappuccino to mocha.

Food and drink is available from the main counter at every break time and right up until 2 pm; giving you plenty of time to eat, drink and socialise with your friends. The college shop is also stocked with sandwiches, a range of drinks from fruit drinks to fizzy drinks, other snacks and a wide range of stationery just in case your pen runs out!
