Anachronistic

"Anachronistic" is the KGV college History journal, written by students, produced and put together by students, and sold by students. It is not only a high-quality History journal with well-written, interesting articles, but also contributes towards a charitable cause. The journal only costs 50p, and every penny goes towards "New Horizons" a special needs school in Ghana.! The money all goes towards a good cause; last year over £190 was raised.

The journal is normally released every half-term, and is often themed towards a particular event, or articles are often based around what happened at the time of the year e.g. if there was an issue published in October, then articles tend to reflect historic events during that month. Examples of themes include an issue focusing on Christmas and this year, for example, there were articles ranging from the origins of Christmas and Christmas traditions to the Christmas truce, where soldiers temporarily stopped fighting in the trenches in World War I.

Instead of just reading the journal, students are always needed as contributors. They don’t have to be a history student, as long as the article is about something historical. Anachronistic supports the ‘History Matters’ campaign and encourages its readers to do so too: http://www.historymatters.org.uk
